How You’ll Contribute to the Team

The General Manager, Accounting and Finance is responsible for applying business acumen and forward-looking analytics to improve and maintain the financial health of the company. This role will drive the interaction between accounting operations, compliance, FP&A, and treasury to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. Aligning the company’s financial structure to the long-term goals of the organization is at the forefront of this role.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
Develop financial management strategies that align with the vision and goals of the company, for both short- and long-term business opportunities.
Oversee the development of analytics that take a forward look at financial projections by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities.
Oversee the financial well-being of the organization by providing sound forecasting, accounting services, preparing action plans, and directing a team of financial management professionals.
Act as a trusted advisor to all stakeholders to assess their needs and help leaders accomplish business objectives by recommending solutions that ensure the financial health of the company.
Ensure that appropriate financial systems, processes, controls, and personnel are in place to successfully maximize business opportunities and manage risk.
Ensure the financial management team provides a timely, accurate, and forward- looking analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the business leaders in performing their responsibilities.
Proactively lead the development and implementation of standard operating procedures that align with business objectives while complying with generally accepted financial, accounting and regulatory standards.
Oversee the development of a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
Model the highest standards of business professionalism; lead the training and development of team members through coaching, motivating, and mentoring on company culture, business goals, fiscal responsibility, and sound business judgment.
Lead the recruitment and retention of a diverse team of financial management professionals; create accountability and ownership among team members through communication of clear expectations, supervision, and timely performance feedback.

Role Specific Requirements Include:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field; MBA required; CPA a plus.
20+ years’ experience as a business leader responsible for the financial health of the company overseeing a financial management team.
Previous experience in the real estate industry with proven success at operationalizing business transaction is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds and at all levels of the organization, including effective conflict resolution.

Leadership & Navigation - The ability to direct and contribute to initiatives and processes within the organization.

Financial Acumen – Has the breadth and depth of understanding of even the most complex and complicated financial structures with the keen ability to determine the best approach to implement any potential transaction into an effective accounting and finance operation.
Consultation - The ability to provide guidance to organizational stakeholders.
Communication - The ability to effectively interpret and synthesize data to provide counsel and exchange information with stakeholders.
Problem Solving - The ability to handle difficult or unexpected situations and complex business challenges.
Ability to travel as needed.
