Duties and Responsibilities:
Payroll: Assists in the development and implementation of payroll related goals, systems, policies, priorities, and procedures. Function as the process owner over the company’s bi-weekly (and ad hoc) payroll function, including full cycle payroll processing with multi state payroll in ADP Workforce Now for approximately 500 employees, ensuring accuracy and deadlines are met. Responsible for reviewing and ensuring proper supervisory approval of automated and manual time entries. Identify and correct errors, inconsistencies, and problems. Manage the internal time entry process, JDE E1 payroll module and ADP Workforce Now by gathering data, running reports, and ensuring that records are accurate and complete in all systems (includes tracking of paid time-off). Reconcile and report temporary employee hours worked to associated outside agencies. Responsible for identifying changes in the payroll tax and regulatory environment and assessing the impact to the Company. General Ledger & Accounting: Areas of emphasis will include monthly close processing, account reconciliation preparation, journal entry preparation, and report production and distribution. Additional responsibilities include, assisting with the organization’s multiple quarterly and annual audits and SOX compliance. Reporting: Create reports to provide analysis of payroll actual costs vs. budget; payroll forecasts; payroll data for multiple audits and ad hoc reporting. Reviews managerial reporting and analysis with members of management. Provide regulatory reporting – ACA, 401k, Insurance, SOX, leave tracking, etc. Report on current and/or future regulations in payroll. Other Duties: Cross-train with other Finance staff to ensure adequate back-up. Provide support for Human Resources. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum of 6 to 8 years of payroll processing experience in a complex payroll environment required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field desired; or equivalent combination of experience and education. Knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations, related tax laws and ability to research tax-related inquiries. CPP certification a plus. Experience with JDE E1 accounting software, ADP Workforce Now; or equivalent. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion. Excellent skills in organization, attention to detail and time management, including the ability to meet deadlines. Ability to offer high-quality customer service within the organization. Ability to create reports from various data sources. Ability to collaborate within the Finance department and across other departments. High degree of flexibility with work schedule and required ability to work well under deadlines and pressure.
